Welcome
The Fencing Parents Association (FPA) welcomes you to the 2011-2012 season. What Fencing Parents does, simply put, is help support the teams and our coaches, girl’s team coach Natalie Vazquez and the boy’s team coach, Jason Manzella. For good things to happen we need your help. The season runs from Thanksgiving through early March and we need parents to help with things like our March Awards Banquet, bus snacks sub sandwiches for away meets, selling spirit wear, taking pictures for the fencing yearbook and supporting press coverage and publicity work. Being involved is a great way to get to know our fencers and their parents. So we hope you’ll help.

2011-2012 Girls Calendar
that covers Dual Meets, Tournaments, Practices and other key dates from the start of the season right through to March. The schedule is tentative as always as any event can be changed due to weather, or other unforseen circumstances, but the coach hopes you will be able to get an idea of what is planned for the season. Please download the calendar and check back for updates. We hope to incorporate this information into the web site calendar.
Beginner's Guide to Fencing Tournaments
Beginner's Guide to Tournaments from Fencing.net. Even if you are not fencing in any tournaments a lot of the advice applies to regular school meets so all fencers and parents might benefit from reading it.
High School Fencing Basics
Many of you are new to fencing. There is a lot to learn, and we all need to start somewhere. We hope the following gives you an idea of what the sport involves at the high school level. We’re assuming you know absolutely nothing at all. Most of us didn’t either. No question is silly. If you have a question, please ask one of us. Knowing more about what is going on makes watching fencing a lot more fun.
